A Manifesto on Why I Do What I Do

It’s about time I introduce myself to those who may not know me well yet.

I’m Deborah. That’s my full, legal name that I’ve always used professionally and with family, but my friends and husband call me Debi (spelled like that – not Debbie). You can call me either.

I’m a wife, stepmom, and believer in continually growing, becoming a better version of yourself. I’m also a social media strategist and trainer who helps businesses and nonprofits market more effectively on social media and the web so they can reach more customers, stress less and enjoy their lives more.

Deborah Finestone

I believe our duty is to lift others up, to learn and grow, and teach others so they can do it faster and become better than they were yesterday. And pass it on by helping others — one massive virtuous cycle.

Before I got into this field six years ago, I worked in the corporate world — in marketing and communications — and journalism before that.

My Professional Purpose

I’ve always seen my life’s work as a means to help people understand what’s going on around them so they can make better decisions to meet their goals.

I used to think the best way to do this was to speak with experts and supply their information and insight. But over time, I realized that I want to help people more directly.

I’ve always been attracted to media, marketing and social media (as it became a thing). I always read that section of The Wall Street Journal first. So I started studying social media marketing and got certified in it. That’s also when I started working with my first client outside of my job: a nonprofit in my hometown.

Fast forward to 2020, when I — like so many people when the world turned upside down — decided it was a sign to reboot my life and go all-in on something I’d been thinking about for years: becoming my own boss. Starting a business where I could more directly help people, see the positive effects and make a bigger difference.

Upping My Game

I took more training, updated my certifications, and went about finding lots of good teachers who would help me stay updated on all the possibilities in this medium so that I could share that knowledge with my clients.

To me, my own success is a reason to turn around and pass it on — to lift up others, to help them put their good out into the world and make the world a better place in their own way. I started this business — a big step into a better version of myself — because I want to teach other business owners how to harness the power of the online world to help more people themselves, using their talents and know-how.

Business owners need to see it doesn’t have to be frustrating if you have a strategy, a plan and a partner who’s well versed in all the options and can help you be efficient and effective — to tell your story and reach who you want to reach.

I’ve got a lot I want to share with the world. I’ve got a lot I want to teach others about what I’ve learned so I can HELP THEM GROW and, by doing that, make the world a better place in my own way.

So my question to you is … are you ready to grow? To reach more people who need exactly what you offer?

Leave a YES in the comments if this resonated with you.
